Words from Rev Mike, May 8, 2026

Mother’s Day was initiated in 1905 by Anna Jarvis in honor of her mother Ann Reeves Jarvis, who was a peace activist and suffragist with her contemporary Julia Ward Howe. Both were part of a movement called Mother’s Day for Peace to end the killing of their husbands and sons in the carnage of the Civil War. On Mother’s Day Sunday I will be reflecting on what it might mean to go beyond a Hallmark version of Mother’s Day. Hope to see you then, and to ALL: a happy Mother’s Day for Peace!                                                                                                             – Mike
