Rev Mike Duda provided a truly moving recounting of history, glorious and not so glorious: “Memorial Day- A Day of Mourning”
Even though he was a monk, Thich Nhat Hanh had experienced war. He said, “We who have touched war have a duty to bring the truth about war to those who have not had a direct experience of it. We are the light at the tip of the candle. It is really hot, but it has the power of shining and illuminating.”
The truth about war is not always visible in the “holiday” of Memorial Day. This Sunday I will reflect on “Memorial Day – a Day of Mourning”. Hope to see you there.
